“People were also bringing babies to Jesus to have him touch them.” Luke 18:15
Each individual is created uniquely in the image of God and even from a very young age infants and young children can learn about Jesus through the caring, loving actions of those who look after them. They learn that being part of a church community is good and healthy and they learn to build relationships with other kids.
As children grow in their relationship with God and learn more of his love for them, we look to encourage this developing faith in a variety of creative ways that actively engage children as they learn.
Each Coro Juniors session includes a simple truth about God that children learn through singing fun, energetic songs that relate to the message, listening to a story and Bible verse, talking with God through prayer, and taking part in a relevant, creative craft and games or activities. There’s also time for free play where children can develop friendships and encourage each other.
We like to celebrate birthdays and enjoy sharing a snack of gluten-free crackers and cut fruit before the session finishes.
Our Coro Juniors program runs throughout the year and is run by enthusiastic volunteers. Visitors and new-comers are very welcome.
Once kids start primary school their way of thinking changes. They become aware of a whole new world that is opening up to them and start to work out where they fit.
One of our aims in Coro Kids, our Sunday morning program for primary-aged kids, is to help each child to see that they are a unique and precious individual in God’s eyes but that they are also part of a wider church family that has both responsibilities and privileges.
We creatively teach about the Father, Son and Spirit and aim to bring children into an awareness of the great salvation story of which we are all a part. We use the Simply Loved resource which allows for a variety of teaching styles to explore biblical themes and passages as well as core values of the Christian life.
The format of a typical Sunday morning involves small groups for discussions and prayer, large group input with multimedia, fun and creative construction activities, games and memory verses.
