Beacon Emergency Relief Service provides assistance to members of the community who are struggling to make ends meet.
This community ministry is supported by local churches through the Mitcham Hills Inter-Church Council (MHICC), of which we are a partner church, and also through several local businesses, including:
- Flight Centre Blackwood who donate 1% of sales from every customer who books with them and mentions Beacon
- Drakes Blackwood Foodland, through their keytag scheme and also for covering the production costs of electronic credit vouchers
We received this letter from Mitcham Hills Inter-Church Council (MHICC) thanking us for our past support for Beacon and advising us that as they have been unable to recruit a new coordinator they have made the following major changes to the service, effective since Wed 25 May:
- The service is now pre-packed bags for pick-up only
- Due to reduced demand, Beacon is requesting that they receive no further donations of cash or kind
A huge 'thank you' to all who have supported Beacon in the past. Read the full letter or chat with Dan Aubrey (0432 375 764) for more info.

Re-entry refers to the return to the passport country/culture of origin of someone who has lived in another culture.
As a spacecraft returning to Earth suffers intense stress, a person re-entering their passport country can suffer stress in many ways.
These helpful tips are really just the ‘tip of the iceberg’, covering a few of the most common stresses.

Privacy and Live Streaming
- Our services are generally live streamed on both our online platform and our YouTube channel as well as available later on our website and app. Signage at the church alerts people to this and suggests sitting in the back half of the sanctuary in order to avoid being captured on video. In particular the front left section of the church (by the drum kit) is an area popular with some young families and is regularly captured on our live stream (as indicated by signs in this area).
- If you have any questions or concerns re. your privacy in regards to live streaming, please contact Geoff Diment.
